Dr. Cohen provides psychiatric consultation, medication management, and individual psychotherapy to adults.
Dr. Cohen works to provide a warm, empathetic, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment for patients. Dr. Cohen believes that understanding the biological, psychological, and social factors affecting a patient’s life to be paramount to providing support during difficult times. He works with patients with multiple kinds of problems, including anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, and ADHD. He has interests in psychodynamic work and uses cognitive behavioral and mindfulness strategies where appropriate. Living with emotional stress can be very hard, and Dr. Cohen believes that learning about the relationship between symptoms, thoughts/feelings, current stressors, and past experiences can be empowering and can help inform how to move forward.
Dr. Cohen completed his undergraduate education at Bowdoin College, and received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He trained at the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program, including experiences at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, Massachusetts Mental Health Center, and the Harvard University Counseling and Mental Health Service. He sees patients in our Newton-Wellesley office and our Newton-Watertown office.
