CURRENT CLIENTS: Important Update: Potential Changes to Telehealth Benefits

Melanie Blount, Psy.D.

Psychologist & Counselor   |   Cambridge, MA

Dr. Blount is a licensed psychologist offering individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents as well as assistance for parents with infants struggling with attachment concerns. Her clinical interests include treatment of post-partum concerns, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma/PTSD. Dr. Blount integrates various therapeutic approaches based on what suits each client’s needs best. Attachment theory guides much of her conceptual understanding, and she utilizes cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and relational approaches depending on the client’s needs. She believes that the therapeutic relationship – namely the trust, genuineness, and warmth between the therapist and client – is of most importance in having treatment be successful and is the foundation through which change can occur.

Dr. Blount earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from William James College and her Master’s in psychology in education from Columbia University. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Lynn Community Health Center in Lynn, MA. She has worked with a variety of adults, adolescents, and children within community clinics, school based health centers, and private practice.
