Dr. Patel is a licensed psychologist who provides individual psychotherapy for adults, with a specialization in behavioral medicine. She supports clients in enhancing their overall physical and emotional well-being through positive behavioral change. She also assists clients in managing the emotional and daily impacts of acute and chronic health conditions such as diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, chronic pain, cancer, infectious diseases, and sleep issues.
Dr. Patel is also interested in working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, and situational or chronic stress. She has spent several years working in diverse communities and assisting clients in understanding and coping with stress related to acculturation or minority status and is an LGBTQ+ ally. Dr. Patel’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and integrative. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral and acceptance and mindfulness-based approaches and incorporates relaxation techniques.
Dr. Patel earned her doctoral degree from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, with a concentration in health psychology and behavioral medicine. She completed an APA-accredited internship in the behavioral medicine track at the Miami VA Medical Center. Her APA-accredited postdoctoral fellowship through Brown University focused on the integration of psychological and substance use services in specialty medical clinics. She also holds a B.S. in Biology from Duke University. Dr. Patel provides services in our North Station office.
